The start of the new academic year saw many new children being welcomed to Polesden Lacey Playschool. They have all settled in well and everyone has been busy having lots of fun!
On the last day of term the children got into the spirit of Christmas and performed a fantastic musical nativity play which included specially adapted songs and nursery rhymes such as 'When Santa Got Stuck up the Chimney', 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', 'Look, Look, See the Snow', finishing with a very enthusiastically sung 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas'!! They all looked wonderful in their personally made headdresses and props and sang so beautifully, making everyone very proud. We were then lucky enough to have a surprise visit from Father Christmas who managed to make it extra special by bringing the snow with him along with a lovely book as a present for each child. The children were then able to take home the Christmas cards and gifts for their families that they had worked so hard on. As you can tell, the Autumn term is always such a busy, enjoyable one!
A big thank you to all the children for a great show, the staff who put in such a lot of hard work, time and effort to make the show happen, the parents and committee for their ongoing support throughout the year and, of course Father Christmas for taking time out of his hectic calendar to stop off at Playschool! We would also like to thank the local businesses who kindly donated some lovely raffle prizes of which we are extremely grateful. It enabled us to raise a fantastic amount of money to invest in new toys and equipment for the children.
2011 - 2012 is a special year for the playschool, being its 20th birthday year. Special celebrations are planned for the spring - so watch this space!
