Lacemaking

We had a good day demonstrating at Polesden Lacey on their Community Day.  As always we had our ‘have a go’ pillows out and lots of people did just that.  They were mostly pleasantly surprised how much easier it was than they had initially thought and we even got a new prospective member.  At our July meeting we were given a fascinating talk by Lee Ault on the History of lacemaking and the tools which were used – some of the samples which Lee had brought we could relate to –that gave our ages away!

We shall be demonstrating at Denbies for National lacemaking week which is at the beginning of September and then look forward to our birthday meeting at the beginning of November.  This is meeting is partnered with Christmas as we do not meet again until the New Year.  We are looking forward to an insight into a Victorian Christmas.

If you would like to join us, even as a visitor, you would be most welcome.  Please contact  Cath Bell on 01306 885067 who would be pleased to answer any questions which you might have.
