Knitting Club Success Once Again

We are proud to report that again we have won the Sherborne Vase Competiton organised by the Machine Knitters Guild for the second year running. Our first entry won us a joint win and we then went on to be outright winners in 2009 and now again in 2010.   This year we had to create a jewellery box with some knitted jewels to adorn the setting that we designed for the competition. It was without doubt the most difficult entry that we have done to date and we were not very confident that it would achieve any award not to mind win the entire competition.  You never know your luck!!

A member of the Knitting Club Margaret Grinter also won three cups.   One was for a felted cushion and the other two cups were for a man’s sweater.   Not only did she design and knit the garment it was extremely creative winning her the cup for the 'Creativity Section'.   Congratulations to Margaret for her wonderful success in the world of knitting.

The Club will shortly be starting to knit garments, toys and other gift items for the Royal Marsden Hospital for their Christmas Stall.   Anyone wishing to make a contribution to this wonderful cause please contact us.   We will be holding a workshop in October for all club members and also we are planning to start a beginners course in September.   If there is anyone out there wishing to learn machine knitting and would like to take part please contact us.

The Club meets every second Wednesday of the month, except August, in the 'Our Lady of Sorrows' Church Hall, Effingham.   For more information about the Club please contact either Kathy on 01483-284194 or Brenda on 01306-884600.
