The golfing season is now well underway for the junior members of Effingham Golf Club with boys and girls enjoying their coaching sessions with Lee Boxall, the Club’s Junior Development Coach and then getting out on the golf course to get their handicaps down. Sam Westacott has improved his handicap from 32 to 22.8 since the start of the year, Dominic Wilson from 16.9 to 14.2, Adam Meadows from 12.9 to 11.5 and Harry Barlow from 15.1 to 13.9 with a hole in one on the 7th in the March stableford. The Club is anticipating that more than 10 of its juniors will achieve single figure handicap status this year.
The Club are also fortunate to have the support of many of the fathers, who are also member of the Golf Club. The Club’s Guildford League squad have won both of their matches to date with Team Manager George Clark in charge and the Rookie Team beat West Byfleet Golf Club Juniors 2 matches to nil in their first match of the season with Team Manager Gary Barthram`s encouragement. Effingham Golf Club are keen to encourage boys and girls of any age to take up and enjoy the game of golf, the Club has a Cadet scheme for the younger children (typically aged 6 to 12) who are new to the game and a Junior Section for the older youngsters who start off with a handicap of 36.
