Did you know that Home-Start is the UK’s leading family support charity, working in local communities across the UK and offering support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children? We are looking for people like you to help bring Home-Start to Mole Valley – the only area in Surrey not currently served by the scheme. The support offered by Home-Start can take many forms, from helping a first time parent get out and about, to helping those with post natal depression, or just general friendship and allowing 5 minutes’ “me time” to a stressed mother or father. The initiative is run for and by members of the local community, in getting the scheme up and running and then in terms of the volunteer positions which follow – making a real difference to local families. The last few months have seen the development of a local steering group, which is working hard with Health Visitors and Social Services to bring Home-Start to our community. The aim is to get the scheme operational by this time next year, but before we can get that far we really need your help. Do you have experience of the charities’ sector, social work or childcare? Do you have general business experience, in particular, in public relations, financial management or HR? Do you know anything about funding applications or property management? Or are you just enthusiastic about helping others? Help at this stage can take many forms - and we are keen to hear from anyone who might be interested in finding out more. Whether you have a couple of hours a month to spare or a couple of days, we would love to hear from you, so please contact us at mreynolds@home-start.org.uk, and to find out more please visit www.home-start.org.uk.
