Fetcham U3A

Well, what a day it was!  Sunday 27th June was absolutely beautiful for our Hog Roast, the venue for which we had been forced to change at the very last moment.  Originally to be held at the Grange Centre, we finally held it at Bookham Grange Country House Hotel, which turned out to be the perfect place.  With tables and chairs on the lawn at the back, tables with umbrellas on the terrace for those who could not stand the hot, hot sun, gazebos housing a hog which had been roasting over a charcoal spit since 7.00am and the Phoenix 7-piece jazz band playing the perfect music for the afternoon we could not have wished for anything more.

Greg Johnson, the butcher, supplied all the trimmings and told me he had spit roasted over 200 sausages as well as the hog - all absolutely succulent.  The hotel provided a delicious dessert and coffee and I saw people drinking Pimms - what more could you want!  Unfortunately, the England /Germany game did not live up to the same perfection - but you can't have everything.

Our next event is the 70th Anniversary Battle of Britain Dance in October, followed by the annual Christmas Party in December.  In addition I occasionally organise visits to places of interest.  Hopefully early next year will see us at the Ice Show in Brighton and Lambeth Palace in the Spring with the annual Quiz Night in between just to keep the little grey cells working.

If you would like to join us, please contact our Membership Secretary - details on our website, www.fetchamu3a.org.uk - she will be pleased to hear from you.
