Fetcham U3A

The Christmas Party finished another hectic social year and this year is already filling up with events, visits, holidays and - would you believe it - 10th anniversary celebrations. We don't know where the ten years has gone! We have grown steadily and endeavoured to bring associates into full membership as soon as possible so that they can enjoy the full benefits of our U3A.

The annual Quiz Night in March is always a success with the quizmaster promising every time that the questions will be easier - of course they are not, but nobody seems to mind and it is encouraging to see how high the final scores are. Also in March we hold our 'Thank You' lunch for group leaders, which also gives them the opportunity to comment on the past year and offer suggestions for improvements - always useful. We are extremely fortunate in having enthusiastic group leaders and ideas for new groups are continually being put forward.

May brings our Seine Cruise - a leisurely trip along the River Seine from Paris to Honfleur calling in at several ports on the way. Surely there cannot be a better way to spend a few days in Spring. June's midsummer event this year is a private visit to Latchett's Gardens for lunch, tea and a wander around this beautiful and very unusual place.

In August we are cruising to the Edinburgh Tattoo via Amsterdam and onwards to the Orkney Islands and back via Invergordon.  Early October heralds our 10th anniversary celebration dinner - a ticketed event for members only - but our usual monthly meeting will be open to all comers and consists of display boards and talks by group leaders, wine and a celebration cake. Do come along to St Mary's Church Hall, The Ridgeway, Fetcham during the afternoon of Tuesday 23rd October if you have the time. I'm sure you will find something to interest you - and there is always the wine and cake!

Late November/early December will give us the opportunity to repeat a visit to Thursford for the Christmas Spectacular - a fascinating place and the entertainment seems to start Christmas off in the proper way. Then our Christmas party and another year is complete. Also in the pipeline are visits to the Inns of Court coupled with No.10 Downing Street and the Harry Potter Experience, so you can see there is never a dull moment at Fetcham U3A!

Our Membership Secretary - Tony Rozier on 01372 457741 is always willing to help if you are interested in joining us. Please give him a ring or visit our website membership.sec@fetchamu3a.org.uk.
