Eastwick WI

Eastwick WI members are having a busy time marking their fortieth anniversary this year. The main celebration was in June when almost the entire membership of 100 enjoyed a meal in the company of many guests. They were entertained by a magician and also were amused to hear extracts from their first record books. There are still several founder members and they lined up for their photo as they cut the celebration cake.

At the end of the week Eastwick had their customary cake stall at Village Day, taking a record amount and coming second in the 'Best Decorated Stall' competition. On the Tuesday it was all hands to the deck as Eastwick organised the Village Week Quiz, having won last year.

In the mean time WI life goes on. There have been outings to London and to Dover Castle and nearer to home a group of members explored footpaths along the top of Box Hill.

Several members have been working on a quilt for the bed in the Eastwick Room at Denman College, and they proudly showed it off to members at a WI meeting. Eastwick is going on a day visit to Denman College in August.

If you would like to be part of this busy WI you will be most welcome at any of the meetings which take place on the third Wednesday of every month except August at 7.30 pm at St Mary's Annexe, The Ridgeway, Fetcham. Find out more on the website, www.eastwickwi.btik.com
