Chairman's Report

The circus certainly came to town on Village Day and brought out the children with lots of colourful costumes and, most importantly laughs and smiles!  If you were one of the hundreds of helpers or the mass of villagers, both young and old, who came we hope that you enjoyed it and many thanks for taking part.   If you have got ideas about what we could do next year to make it even better please let me know on keithslark@tiscali.co.uk.

We only have a small group organising the day but hundreds more turn up to run the 70 or so stalls and displays on the day and more again during Village Week.  This is rewarded by the pleasure it brings to so many, young and old.
Village Day itself produced around £9,000 and with the Village Week events our total this year should be over £18,000!  A big thank you to all of you who contributed to its success whether on Committees, stewarding, opening your garden or in any way. From last year’s money we are replacing all of the old windows and doors in the main building – with substantial grants from Mole Valley District Council and Surrey County Council for which we are very grateful.

We were very pleased to welcome two new faces onto our small Village Day team this year and if you like to help plan next year’s event please ring me on 457375.
