Bookham Badminton Club

The club ran a successful barn dance at the Old Barn Hall in Bookham on Saturday 17th April. Numbers attending were affected by the Icelandic ash cloud, which meant that about ten of our number were stranded abroad. Nevertheless, with the band D'Arcy Spice together with their callers, and enthusiastic participation by the dancers in the lovely Barn Hall - it was a terrific evening.

The club held an end of season tournament in late April at Epsom College and with some fine play and close results winners on the evening were: Ladies Doubles, Ann Cook & June McArdle; Men's Doubles, Russell & Jack; Mixed Doubles, Debbie Honey & Terry Morris.

At the AGM, held at the Harrison Room of the Barn Hall on May 19th Chairman Malcolm Jordan announced his retirement from badminton and therefore the club, at the age of 75 and after nearly 40 years as a member. Dave Seditas was voted unanimously as the new Chairman, with Secretary Paddy Callaghan and Treasurer Hillary Wilson continuing.
