BLOS replay ‘The Sorcerer’ at Fetcham Village Hall

It is ten years since Bookham Light Operatic Society last performed Gilbert & Sullivan’s operetta, The Sorcerer.  Although not one of the better known of the duo’s operettas, it remains a favourite of BLOS and one which they are looking forward to performing again.  The Sorcerer was the third in the series of comic operas by Gilbert & Sullivan and it opened in London in 1877, following the success of Trial by Jury.  Although it did not repeat the success of Trial,  it won high critical acclaim and encouraged the continuation of the now famous partnership.

The plot is simple, a young couple about to be married decide to share their happiness with the whole village by hiring a sorcerer to make a love potion to make everyone fall in love. But naturally, this backfires! The music is lively and the lyrics very amusing.

We very much hope that you will join us for an entertaining evening.
